Cheryl Kopp - Eighth Grade Teacher
Mrs.Cheryl Kopp graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN in 1990 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.
The beginning of her ministry began at North Trinity Lutheran School in Milwaukee, WI where she taught 2nd grade. After five years she received a call to teach missionaries' children in Japan for one year. While in Japan, she taught 7 children ranging from kindergarten through 7th grade. Her year spent abroad was a wonderful blessing and memorable experience.
In 1996 she was called to Zion, South Milwaukee where she taught 3rd grade. She met her husband there and decided to step down from teaching in 2000 to stay home to rear her children: Conor, Liam, Elise and Greta. She returned to teaching in 2009 when their family moved to Florida; she taught 4th grade in the Lee County School district for 6 years. During this time, she gained valuable experience in the teaching of writing.
In 2015, Mrs. Kopp and her family moved to Saginaw, MI, where she taught 4th grade at St Paul's Lutheran School for one year. She then received a call to teach Art/Art History and various freshman courses at Michigan Lutheran Seminary, where her husband was also a professor. She enjoyed sharing her love of art with juniors and seniors and teaching literature and writing to freshmen. She also coordinated fine arts fairs, art camps, peer tutoring and was adviser for the yearbook.
Mrs.Kopp has always had a passion for the visual fine arts and language arts. She never tires of implementing new ideas in her classroom. She loves to paint in her free time and bake and cook for her family. Traveling and hiking in God's glorious creation are also favorite hobbies of hers.
A favorite Bible verse of hers is found in Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
